Some of my creative ideas cannot be expressed in traditional media. These require a “new form”. As an example, the Virgin Mary series began with gluing fur on an existing sculpture of the Virgin Mary. I then attached shells, fur, feathers to statues of her. She can be found on a mop, and iron, and ironing board, scrub brushes. I wrestled with the idea of this iconic woman; so venerated so unearthly, holy, so non-sexual and the real life roles of women; so domesticated, so earthy, so sexual. That’s one set of objects. There are others. . . dig in.
