COW 2023 3 X 4’ Sequins on painted paper on canvas. The COW came from my interest in making the surface of my paintings more luminous and dynamic. This is the beginning of the sequin series. I first followed the abstract painting, trying to be true to the black and white painting. I am often in search of a figurative element. I visited the Queens Zoo and spent some time observing a COW. When I returned to the piece I “saw” the COW.
